Surprise!

Not long after Saturday's post-race blog post, I received a text from one of my sweet girls working the race for the JR Miss Committee telling me I won a medal! WHAT??

I won first place for my age division (31-40). Now that's just pretty darn cool. Certain this will be the only time that ever happens for me - a "benefit" of smaller races, perhaps?

But check out my sweet hardware!

  1. Congrats! My age bracket is so tough no matter how big or small the race.

  2. I placed 1st overall in a 3k one time. I got a Sonic cup with a $5 Sonic card in it. There were 25 participants and 20 of them were moms with strollers - on an unpaved trail :0

Seriously, congrats - no matter how many people were in it, you were first and you earned it!

  3. Congratulations!! Great job! Yes, the word "win" is totally subjective. Take each and every one with your head held high...you got a medal because you deserved it!! Those that ask "did you come in first?" doesn't know the sport at all...they are innocently ignorant and understand they don't know what it takes to win. Display your medals and look at them often. It will encourage you greatly...and no one can take them away from you.

Just ran my first marathon this weekend. Was totally prepared, even diet-wise, but didn't end the way I wanted. BUT, I am not sad about it. I finished running and am so proud of what I've accomplished, even tho it's little in some's eyes. www.run4it-headricks.blogspot.com if you are interested in reading. Keep up the good work, girl!
